Ablackman45 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I was playing oblivion modded last night and everything worked fine as it has since I started modding a few weeks ago. I try to boot up today and vortex says I cant boot the game and give the error message "couldnt find oblivionremastered-win64-shipping.exe" I can boot the game just fine normally without mods. But I have no idea why when I have done nothing with vortex or oblivion besides just playing the game, that it cant find the .exe now. Any help would be great, thank you.
QohelethAmets Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I am running into the same issue. Hopefully an admin finds a solution and lets us know.
ChemBoy1 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Which version of the game are you using (Steam, Epic, Xbox Game Pass)? Which Vortex version are you using. You will want to upgrade to 1.14.0-beta3 is you're not on it already. Restart Vortex to make sure you are on the latest version of the OBR extension (0.1.6) You can always launch the game outside of Vortex until the issue is resolved. You do NOT have to launch the game from Vortex for mods to work. Just make sure you launch using OBSE64 if you are using it.
Niindaal Posted May 24 Posted May 24 yeah same thing is happening for me. I launch the game from steam and works just fine, some mods work fine too. But when I launch the game through OBSE, I get an error message telling me that it couldn't find oblivion remastered-win64-shipping.exe
ChemBoy1 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Ah, so the error is from OBSE. This is why we ask for error message screenshots on this forum. That sounds like a problem with OBSE itself, then. Not Vortex.
Khaosgnostic Posted May 25 Posted May 25 (edited) It's probably a problem with both. Vortex Manager installs OBSE64 to %APPDATA%Roaming\Vortex\oblivionremastered\mods\OBSE64-282-0-1-0-1745869925.1, yet OBSE64 itself needs to be in the same directory as OblivionRemastered-Win64-Shipping.exe, i.e. steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64. No idea whose position it is to fix this, but if a mod page offers a download via Vortex the manager should put it in the correct directory. Since this has been asked before: - Steam version, freshly validated files - Fresh installation of Vortex, roughly an hour old - freshly grabbed mods from the Nexus, little less than an hour old Edited May 25 by Khaosgnostic
Khaosgnostic Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Forget what I wrote, got it working. Here's what I did: - Left sidebar -> Settings -> Mods. - Scroll to "Mod Staging Folder (Oblivion Remastered)", click "Suggest" next to the input field. - The input field should now read something like [Drive]:\VortexMods\{game}", this is the case if Vortex and the game are installed on a different drive. Confirm by clicking "Apply" to the right. - Deployment Method automatically changes to Hardlinks (or similar), see toast popup in the top right corner. If doesn't change, confirm with "Apply" next to Deployment Method: Hardlink Deployment a little further down. - Test. Vortex Manager's UI is not very intuitive.
ChemBoy1 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 The mod staging folder is NOT where the mod is deployed. OBSE64 is deployed to the correct location. This game ONLY supports Hardlinks Deployment. No other option will work. Vortex gives you an error notification if your mod staging folder is not on the same drive partition as the game for games that only support Hardlinks. Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it "not intuitive". Big red error notifications are kinda hard to miss.
silverhawk216 Posted June 2 Posted June 2 so i fixed this on mine i had to go to the dashboard and change target to the (dive):\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\obse64_loader.exe and start in to (dive):\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\ it seems that it trys to do another folder holding the obse64_loader.exe but not the right one
