The new color scheme is better, except for the blue part. Joining the "please condense the main game page" complaints. None of that needs to be this big!!!! And while seeing collections is fun, couldn't they be, like... smaller? Off to the side? I really badly want to just, fit more on the screen. Please please please.

extremely dissent from complaints that the new page layout has wasted space or is too big. I took a screen shot and marked some reasons I love the new layout.

You're talking about a different page than everyone else.

If you're talking about the Overview page (which I never use because has never been helpful nor useful compared to the actual mod browsing or image browsing pages), then I still dissent from the complaints of wasted space. The page you describe is just a hot files style overview intended to show a few examples rather than actual mod browsing. And the new layout is perfect for that because it does exactly that. It highlights a few things Nexus Mods thinks people might want to consider.

The page you describe is not and has never been the actual mod browsing page.

Also, in the screen shots shared above where there's black space on the right and left, that's the fault of a bad user-side page layout. Notice that in my screen shot below of that page, there is no wasted space left or right of the text. I use the Edge Browser from Windows 10.

(By the way, if people are going to post screen shots, PLEASE put them in spoilers!)

On a different note, I really appreciate the change in handling for mod thumbnails that are not the expected aspect ratio. The old site scales them to fit the outer edge, which cuts off a lot of the thumbnail. I much prefer scaling to fit the entire image the way the new site does, even if that results in showing the filler background image:

Some quick thoughts on the beta:

I'm kind of indifferent to the main landing page, but the current 3 column view of the news section looks completely out of step with how the main body of the page is setup. Switching to a four column view (15 rem), looks much better.

It'd also be nice to have some kind of tooltip explaining the "Show only updated mods" (see my second image upload), because it works, but I have no idea what the criteria for "updated mods" are. Some of the mods that are included in this category haven't been updated in over 18 months, so it's really hard to figure out what qualifies for this.

I have to say that I gotta agree with quite a few comments that were made already. Too much wasted space, I hate that we get shoved collections down our throat again(I frequent the Stardew Valley mod community, Vortex isn't good for those kinda mods). While I enjoy the images getting bigger it feels too enormous when you got so much empty space left and right, the old design somehow felt more balanced if you know what I mean.

I don't get why there needs to be such a big header with a tiny image of the game at the top, this seems like a big waste too.

On another note, the media section feels so damn tiny compared to the big other sections and feel like a complete afterthought. Even back in the old design I felt weird about that section sometimes getting so tiny but it still felt balanced with the other sections back then. Another thing I don't enjoy is the MASSIVE news section. Alright, it's at the bottom, but still....taking away the tracking tab from there had me surprised actually. It was the one I kept as default because honestly speaking I'd prefer that the entire news kinda section should just go onto the main nexus page, not the individual game pages, but maybe thats just me.

Honestly spoeaking I'd prefer if we had some sort of setting where we can turn off entire sections if we don't want them, then I'd instantly get rid of the wholes news and collections sections.

The mod pages themself...they're alright. Not sure if I can befriend that new font you decided to switch to since it feels out of place especially in the header when the previous one used was more condensed. I honestly don't know why Nexus kepts steering towards this whole slick modern corporate look. Getting rid of the background image was what it made it look even emptier than before, I feel like.

I agree with others: a lot of wasted space trying to adapt the modern "mobile" look and feel. Don't get me wrong, it looks alright (minus the wasted space), but I don't think it's necessary or apropos for a PC mod website. Additionally, the new interface is very resource intensive, causing lots of lag and stuttering while scrolling. Had to revert to classic for the time being.

I really like this suggestion for the news section!

There's too much contrast and weird font changes, it feels like I took off my glasses. Blur and harsh colors, it hurts my eyes.

Please tell me there is a way to go back to the old layout.

I'm sorry but I really don't like this change. Too much empty space and the color contrast is way too harsh

The new colors hurt my eyes. The old colors were better, because they allowed you to differentiate and werent as saturated/contrasted.
